Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.
Hebrews 10:23 NLT
Hope is more than just positive thinking. It is an assurance that what God said will happen. We can see the relationship and distinction between faith and hope when we look at a child whose father promised him that they will go out of town when the school year ended. Faith is shown when the child believes that they will go out of town because of what his father’s word. At the same time, that trust brings joy and excitement to the boy who knows that they will surely go out of town – that is hope.
When we come and surrendered our lives to Christ, we were given hope. Hope that even if we are the worst sinner, God can transform us. We have this hope that even when we are suffering today, we can endure because God is with us. Ultimately, we have hope that when our physical bodies die, we will go to heaven and be with God forever.
So whatever you’re going through today, know that you have a hope of a great future in Jesus. Hold on pain ends. Hold on to His word and promises and be patient with His timing.
