An Overflowing Hope

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 NIV

Hope is defined as the expectation or desire for a particular thing to happen. But it also means the confidence of what is sure. The latter kind of hope is what makes a Christian move forward when oppositions and hardships come his way. In Romans 15:13, Paul tells us that God is the God of hope. He is our source, and from Him comes our assurance. I find it interesting that this single verse is filled with things that all of us would want, namely, joy, peace, and an overflowing peace! So how do we receive these? We should trust in the Lord, pray that He fills us with all joy and peace, and, in faith, receive the Holy Spirit’s overflowing hope. This more than just positive thinking because it is from the Holy Spirit.

We are not meant to drag ourselves on our way to school, work, or other responsibilities that we have. Let us desire to be connected to the fountain of hope – Jesus – and radiate hope everywhere we go.
